'It was a dark & stormy night ....'

STORIES FROM THE STORM

On June 9, 2007 a storm hit Newcastle. A tanker was beached, roofs flew off, roads flooded, people were stranded, homes were blacked out for days, schools and businesses closed, suburbs and towns evacuated.

What happened to you?
Everyone has heard at least one story from the recent storm and its consequences or has their own story: stories of community spirit, heroism, shock, fear, threat, rescue, how we coped.

"Did you hear about…"
"I tried to get home and…"
"I walked out the front door and …"

Tell us your story!
The Hunter Writers Centre wants to record and document these tales. These stories and experiences are part of the evolving history and culture of our town. This site is an opportunity for you to record these stories.

Take as long as you like or be as concise as you like. Email your stories to: npp@hwcentre.com

Please indicate whether it is your own story or something you heard. As the author leave a name and contact (email, address, phone no). Copywright remains with the author. Should any proposal or intention of publication beyond this website arise the author will be contacted.
