STORIES FROM THE STORM
On June
9, 2007 a storm hit Newcastle. A tanker was beached, roofs flew
off, roads flooded, people were stranded, homes were blacked out
for days, schools and businesses closed, suburbs and towns evacuated.
What happened to you?
Everyone has heard at least one story from the recent storm and
its consequences or has their own story: stories of community spirit,
heroism, shock, fear, threat, rescue, how we coped.

"I tried to get home and…"
"I walked out the front door and …"

The Hunter Writers Centre wants to record and document these tales.
These stories and experiences are part of the evolving history and
culture of our town. This site is an opportunity for you to record
these stories.
