STORIES FROM THE STORM - The Stories

A Thin Silver Lining

by P Beale

Shirley and Peter live at Valentine. In March this year they decided to install a rainwater tank. A local company gave a satisfactory quote, which was accepted on 26 April. In the second week of May they built a concrete slab to take the 5,000 litre tank, which was installed and connected on 24 May. As soon as it was installed Peter said: "Now it won't rain for six months!"

On Thursday 7 June Peter had to top up the pool, during which he said that if anything would bring on the rain, that would. As we all know, it did, and by the end of the next day the tank was full. Since then it has continuously overflowed.
